Don't Take Yourself Too Seriously: A Lighthearted Poem

September 18, 20251 min read

When your hair won’t sit the way you’d planned,

And your coffee lands on your brand new pants,

When you trip on the rug or misplace your keys,

Remember: life’s meant for moments like these.

Your socks might not match, your jokes may fall flat,

You might laugh so hard you get a ‘look’ from your cat,

Or you’re singing off-key in the middle of town,

But none of that’s reason to feel sad or to frown.

Perfection’s a myth and flawless is fake,

Let’s all make a pact for our own silly sake:

To giggle at blunders, to smirk as we fail,

To dance in the rain, or trip over a pail.

So don’t take yourself so serious and grim,

The world’s much more fun when you live on a whim.

If you mess up today, just laugh it away,

There’ll always be time for another cliché!

Remember, my friend, as you read this aloud,

That nobody’s perfect, embrace who you are and be proud.

So, relax and let go, let your worries be free,

Life will be more enjoyable, wouldn’t you agree?
